Beverly Shores Depot Museum & Gallery displaying 5 x 5, veterans, photography and lost homes exhibits

Times - 5/9/2024

May 8—The Beverly Shores Depot Museum & Gallery is hosting its annual 5 x 5 exhibit and an exhibit about honoring veterans this month.

The museum and gallery at 525 S. Broadway is featuring work by local artists that are selling for $55 each. It's a popular annual fundraiser in which the public can buy pieces in various mediums that are no more than 5 inches tall and 5 inches wide.

The 5 x 5 exhibit runs through May 26.

The Beverly Shores Depot Museum & Gallery also is displaying "Honoring Our Veterans" through June 2.

"A celebration of our veterans will be held at the Depot Saturday, May 25 at noon," The Depot Museum & Gallery said in a press release. "The VFW Honor Guard will fire a 21-gun salute and the Krueger School Middle School Choral group will perform. Beverly Shores resident Ed Kleese will make a presentation about his father, a WWII bombardier."

In June, the museum will exhibit "Inspiration over Time: Chris Cassidy Photography." It runs through June 30.

"For nearly four decades, Chris Cassidy trained his camera lens on food as he made a successful career as a commercial photographer in Chicago," the Depot said in a press release. "Now semi-retired and living in Beverly Shores, Chris has turned to travel and nature to inspire him as he develops a robust portfolio of personal photographic works."

An opening reception with Cassidy will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday June 2.

People also can check out "Gone but Not Forgotten II: The Lost Homes of Beverly Shores."

"A fascinating history exhibit, 'Gone but Not Forgotten II': A look at some of the homes the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore (now renamed Indiana Dunes National Park) demolished in the 1980s when the park looked to expand into Beverly Shores," the Depot said in a press release.
