Sequence it!

Sequence it! is an educational iPhone app designed to help children with autism understand processes based on a sequence of events. It breaks down multi-step activities into separate steps and requires the child to arrange the steps in the correct order. Sequence it! is a customizable tool that allows the parent, teacher, or therapist to build sequences that are personally suited to the child’s needs. With this app, the parent/teacher can: Select the content that is suitable for and relevant to the child; choose the level of difficulty based on the child’s capabilities; represent each event with images, texts, narration, or a combination of any of the three; and use pictures of the child or those who are close to him or her in the event. Allowing the child to develop a personal connection to the activity may help him internalize and identify with the steps of the various activities. Sequence it! is intended to help the child understand cause and effect, recognize processes and sequences of an event/story, encourage literacy, expand vocabulary, and more.
