The Super-Auggie Augmentative Communication Device, model H-44, is a direct selection communicator designed for use by individuals with cognitive, communication, or speech disabilities. The unit consists of a slate personal computer (PC), which is about the size of a piece of paper, with a true touchscreen, running Windows 7. The unit includes PTP-PC communication software with 7,000 Mayer-Johnson BoardMaker images. Other features include a built-in WiFi and Ethernet port with a 56-kilobyte modem; an external Firewire DVD/CD player; an external speaker that attaches to one of the two USB ports; built-in switch inputs (requires optional switch interface); and a leather case. The unit can be operated by direct touch, trackball, joystick, switch(es), or head tracking. The slate PC has 256 megabytes (MB) RAM, two USB ports, one CompactFlash slot, a one-gigaHertz (GHz) Pentium processor, a 40-gigabyte hard drive, and a desk stand. OPTIONS: Dedicated speech generating device version; BoardMaker with Speaking Dynamically Pro; Accessory Pack with compact keyboard with built-in trackpad, external Firewire (IEEE) DVD/CD player, extra battery, and carry case; slant board; external battery charger; additional battery. POWER: Uses rechargeable battery. Battery life is about 3-5 hours or normal use. DIMENSIONS: 12.28 x 8.16 x 0.67 inches. The touchscreen display is 9.75 x 7.38 inches (12.1 inches measured diagonally). Optional compact keyboard is 13 x 6.5 inches. WEIGHT: 3.3 pounds with battery, speaker and case.
