The HiSoftware Compliance Sheriff Accessibility Module is Web site accessibility evaluation software designed for use by programmers and managers in evaluating the accessibility of Web sites to people with disabilities. The program allows managers to create and manage corporate standards for Web accessibility and verify compliance with Federal and international accessibility guidelines, including Section 508, the World Wide Web Consortium's XML Accessibility Guidelines (XAG) and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 1.0 and 2.0, and the Canadian government's Common Look and Feel (CLF) Standards for the Internet. The program performs more than 172 accessibility checks such as images, forms, and dynamic content interactions, plus 17 Alt text quality checks. Results are presented in a comprehensive report which includes the exact locations of Web elements so programmers can take corrective action, and alerts the user to elements that can only be verified by looking at a Web-based document. Test results are recorded with a History that allows the user to identify the pass-fail status of a project at a specific point in time, or to track the progress of the project over time. OPTIONS: Additional modules for repairing Web content, AccRepair and AccVerify (see separate entries). COMPATIBILITY: For use on IBM and compatible computers running Windows. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Windows XP, 2000, or Vista operating system; Internet Explorer 6.0/7.0 or Mozilla Firefox 2.0; Microsoft Office 2003; 2 gigabytes (GB) RAM; and 5 GB free disk space.
