The ComLink LT3G is a direct selection and scanning communicator designed for use by individuals with speech or communication disabilities and severe physical or neurological disabilities. Designed to be fully accessible, this device supports a range of access methods, including touch screen (press, hold time-out), visual and auditory scanning (up to 8 switches), joysticks, sip and puff switches, optical head mouse, voice recognition, and eye tracking (with Enable Eyes; see separate entry). The device features the Life-Links Communication Suite with the progressive language development offerings of Language-Links covering both pragmatic and semantically based approaches to the extremely comprehensive capabilities of the Language-Links, Symbol-Links and Text-Links packages. Also included are the Key-links page set package providing an extensive assortment of on-screen keyboard layouts; Net-Links page set package with pages with tools necessary to successfully navigate the internet and email programs; Enviro-links page set package to be added to the chosen communication page set to provide access to the environmental controls built in to the device; Social-links communication package designed to allow users to actively participate in the social media options like Facebook and Twitter; Learning-links complements the school-age user’s communication page set, providing subject-specific page sets including math, reading, testing, spelling and more; and Leisure-links with a collection of fun-filled pages with games and activities. In its standard configuration, the ComLink LT3G is equipped with a 2.13 gigahertz (GHz) Intel i7 processor and Windows 7, and it is able to operate as a fully functional tablet computer. When configured as a dedicated speech generating device (SGD), it has a 1.6 GHz Intel Atom processor and a Windows XP Professional. Both versions have a built-in microphone, and a Daylight Viewable Touch Display (1024 x 768 pixel resolution) that offers vivid color and maximum view-ability in all lighting conditions, including outdoors. Other features include eight Acepela user-selectable adult and child synthesized voices, dual amplified speakers, automatic user file backup, a Product Tour that lets the user take a "test drive" of the pre-built page sets and other ComLink LT3G capabilities at any time, and the built-in FRS Remote Help Desk to enable skilled technical support team members to take control of the device remotely to solve technical issues, upload and download files or page sets, or show the user how to perform a programming function on the device. The user must grant permission and provide the ID number to permit access to the Remote Help Desk feature. The unit has a FlexABLE Handle that is designed to be easy to grip, even for those with very limited hand dexterity. The FlexABLE Stand enables the user to optimize visibility and reduce screen glare induced by overhead lighting. The device is equipped with LED indicators for Power (ON: blue, standby: blue blinking); battery (charging: amber, low: red blinking, fully charged with direct current (DC) connected: green); wireless networking (active: blue); Bluetooth (active: blue); and, hard drive (activity: blue blinking). Also included are a USB keyboard, a USB wireless mouse, communication software CDs (2 additional activations), and a Quick Start Guide. The unit is pre-loaded with Grid 2 software, Symbol Stix, and Widget software. POWER: Uses 2 internal lithium ion smart batteries and an external lithium ion smart battery or the included alternating current (AC) adapter. OPTIONS: Tobii Communicator software, PCS software, and Enable Eyes II (see separate entry); and a 1.5 GHz Intel Core2Duo processor is available on the dedicated communicator version.
