The Text To Speech Communicator, model TS2010X, is a direct selection communicator designed for use by people with speech and other communication disabilities. The lightweight portable unit features a 41-key tactile keyboard, a 40-character LCD (liquid crystal display) display readout, text-to-speech processor with non-gender specific voice output, and adjustable volume and rate control. Keyboard features such as no key repeat and single key roll over make the unit responsive to individuals with limited hand control or those who make use of single-finger typing. The display allows for text editing and confirmation of text input. Menu-driven setup allows individual configuration of all programmable features. The device is available with a choice of an alphabetical or QWERTY keyboard. POWER: Rechargeable NiCd battery pack provides 8 to 12 hours of use. Recharging requires up to six hours. OPTIONS: A variety of peripheral devices are available, including interfaces for IBM and Apple computers. DIMENSIONS (HxW): 2.5 x 6.5 inches. WEIGHT: 2 pounds.
