VersaClimber is a step-pedal-climb exercise machine for non-weight bearing sit down or stand up exercise for arms only, legs only, or arms and legs. It was designed for and is in use by various levels of paraplegics; leg injured individuals; brain, spinal cord injury, and stroke individuals; individuals needing cardiac rehabilitation; and persons with acute/chronic back injury/pain. The original VersaClimber is a zero impact, hydraulically resisted, vertical climbing machine that provides total body, aerobic strength, power and endurance exercises. The following are additional features found in the clinical model: HEART RATE CONTROL MODE - uses NASA ECG (electrocardiogram) technology and controls work intensity (based on the patient's heart rate) at 30 second interval updates; LIMITED RANGE OF MOTION - independent motion limiting stops on left, right, or both sides in 2 inch increments from 0 to 20 inches of stroke. Effective in standing or seated positions while pedaling, stepping, or climbing; ADJUSTABLE SEAT - adapts vertically and horizontally, allowing the patient in a seated position to pedal with legs only or arms and legs. Without removing or adjusting the seat, the patient can stand up and climb stairs with legs only, or stand up and climb a ladder with one or both arms and legs; SEATED LEG ISOLATOR - will immobilize one or both legs using stationary foot pegs and/or leg support straps. The immobilization is effective with leg braces or casts; STEPPING/STAIRCLIMBER - hand rails allow the user to immobilize the upper body while providing benefits of stairclimbing machines; LOCKING FOOT PEDALS - to limit plantar and dorsi-flexion to a 15 degree rotation from a neutral position. Extra heel straps are provided to secure the foot to the pedal for selected spinal cord, stroke, and other conditions which may have caused lower extremity dysfunctions; RUNNING HAND GRIPS - allow movement in radial and ulner deviation. Standard hand grips allow the user to grip the handles with palms turned forward or in a reverse grip. SIZES: 8-foot model (CL-108C) or 9-foot model (CL-109C) available.
