Alamance, Caswell and Rockingham mental illness advocates offer classes for families

Times-News - 9/1/2021

Sep. 1—Family members of people with major depression, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, addiction, schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder can learn from those who have been there.

The National Alliance on Mental Illness of Alamance, Caswell and Rockingham Counties is sponsoring the Family to Family Education Program, a series of eight weekly classes to help caregivers understand and support individuals with serious mental illness and maintain their own wellbeing.

Teachers are trained NAMI volunteers and family members of those living with mental illness themselves. Classes are free.

Classes are 6:30-9 p.m. starting Tuesday, Sept. 14 at Holly Hill Baptist Church, 2818 Edgewood Ave., Burlington.

To learn more or register call Becky Springer at 336-437-0206. Classes are limited to 25 so registration is required. Organizers need to order class materials, so register as soon as possible.
