Radiothon raises nearly $140K for Veterans Count

Portsmouth Herald - 3/27/2017

MANCHESTER — News Radio 610, Manchester's news traffic and weather radio station, and News Radio 96.7, Portsmouth's news traffic and weather station, announced its third annual Make 12 Hours Count radiothon raised almost $140,000 to benefit Veterans Count, an organization that provides financial assistance and resources to New Hampshire veterans, service members and their families to ensure their dignity, health and overall well-being.

The 12-hour live broadcast took place March 22 and was hosted by New Hampshire Today on-air personality Jack Heath from the morning show’s broadcast studio. The commercial-free radiothon featured interviews with a variety of service members, ranging from World War II veterans to active members of the military. Heath also addressed challenges facing veterans today and discussed how Veterans Count helps local service members through employment counseling, financial assistance, mental health support, deployment support and substance abuse services.

“I was proud to be the host of the third annual Make 12 Hours Count radiothon to help servicemen and women from our community,” Heath said. “In the past three years, the radiothon has raised over $400,000 thanks to the generosity of our listeners.”

“It’s great to see the New Hampshire community come together to help our local veterans,” added Joe Graham, market president for iHeartMedia New Hampshire.

Make 12 Hours Count was presented by Long Term Care Partners, a benefits administration and insurance services company and 12 additional local sponsors anchored each hour of the broadcast.
