Motorcycle club donates $25,000 to Veterans Honor Flight

Grand Forks Herald - 5/19/2019

May 19-- May 19--The Red River Valley Motorcycle Club has donated $25,000 to the Veterans Honor Flight of North Dakota and Minnesota.

The donation represents funds raised through a raffle sponsored by the club at its annual motorcycle show last month at the Alerus Center.

The raffle prize was a 2018 Harley Davidson Ultra Limited motorcycle, provided by Andy's Harley Davidson of Grand Forks.

On the Veterans Honor Flight, area veterans are flown to Washington, D.C., at no charge, for a two-day visit to war memorials and other historical sites related to the U.S. military as well as the National Archives which houses the country's founding documents.

Top priority is given to senior veterans of World War II and the Korean War, and veterans with terminal illness.

Each Honor Flight, which leaves from and returns to Fargo, costs about $150,000, said Jane Matejcek, event organizer.

Donations to the Veterans Honor Flight may be made online at: www.veteranshonorflightofndmn.org .
