The System Vario is an illuminated stand magnifier that can be put together in any combination to suit the needs of individuals who have difficulty seeing. System-Vario magnifiers are available with three types of illuminated handles that can be fitted with interchangeable magnification heads. The Incandescent Battery Handle, model 1540, is portable and best used for quick reading tasks because the batteries will only last eight hours. The halogen Battery Handle, model 1591-04, is ideal for those who like the brightness of the halogen plug-in but want portability. It is also best used for quick reading tasks because of its short two hour battery life. The Halogen Plug-In Handle, model 1590-04, is designed for extended reading tasks. It has a rheostat for controlling the brightness of the bulb. Each handle comes complete with one bulb. The magnification heads, models 1550 series, are circular and range in power from 2.8x to 12.5x. The high quality aspheric lenses are made of PXM and feature Duplex coating that hardens the lens to resist scratching and static. Magnifiers in the 1580 series are rectangular and range in magnification from 2.8x to 3x. Models 1580 and 1582 have Aspheric PXM lenses while model 1584 has an Aplanatic PXM lens. Lens and handles are sold together or separately. POWER: Incandescent battery handle runs on two "C" batteries. The Halogen battery handle requires three "C" batteries. Rechargeable batteries may be used. Batteries not included. OPTIONS: Available are additional bulbs and rechargeable batteries. DIMENSIONS: Lenses range in size from 30 to 70 millimeters in diameter. 1580 series are: 100x50, 100x75 and 105x83 mm. WARRANTY: One year limited, excluding bulbs. Halogen Plug-In handle has three year warranty.
