Simon Sounds It Out is a phonics-based reading and language tutorial program designed for use by children with learning and other cognitive disabilities. The program features an on-screen tutor and uses words and pictures to provide contextual cues. By concentrating on letter sounds and word families, students learn the decoding skills needed for reading. The program uses repetition to teach ponemic awareness, enables students to work at their own pace with individualized lessons, and reinforces the lessons with print-out lessons. Difficulty is automatically increased as the student progresses and progressed is tracked. COMPATIBILITY: For use on Macintosh LCIII or higher computers. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: System 7 or later, 5 megabytes (MB) of hard disk space, 8 MB RAM, a two-speed or faster CD-ROM drive, and a 256-color monitor.
