The BLITAB is designed for users who are blind or have low vision disabilities. It is a Braille tablet that uses a disruptive actuating technology to create tactile text and graphics in real time. The technology allows blind users to learn, work, and play with one mobile device and to have digital access to information in real time. It converts any document into Braille text; little smart dots (“tixels”) raise immediately from the surface and then fall down again when text changes. It is not just a tablet, but a platform for all existing and future software applications for blind readers. It offers a new user experience for Braille and non-Braille readers via touch navigation, text-to-speech output, and Perkins-style keyboard application. It can also be used by children and students in the process of learning and acquiring new abilities at school and university, as well as adults using the Braille tablet at the office in their spare time – to read books, to web-surf on the Internet etc.
Device type: Tactile tablet.
Compatibility: Windows 98 or higher.
System requirement: USB cable for connecting computer.
