VOICEYE is a voice output bar code reading program and video magnification program designed for use by people who are blind or have low vision and individuals with dyslexia and other reading disabilities. This application (or "app") allows a person to use an Apple iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad or any Android device to read data from VOICEYE bar codes and to magnify text and other printed content. VOICEYE bar codes contain up to two pages of text, and when the user reads the bar code with the device's camera, the device will display the document's text and read the text of the document aloud using Apple Voiceover (see separate entry) or the Android text-to-speech feature. A data or internet connection to decode a VOICEYE code as the code itself stores the data. VOICEYE bar codes are created using the VOICEYE Maker for MS-Word or VOICEYE Maker for Adobe InDesign (see separate entries). VOICEYE labels can also be purchased and placed on documents or items. The first time that the user reads the label, he or she can record a short message describing the item to be identified. The message will be played when the label is subsequently read. To use the magnifier feature of the VOICEYE app, the user points the device's camera at the content to be viewed, and the app will display the text or graphics. It offers six zoom levels and five high contrast viewing modes.
